Never Find a *Debt* Like This
In Debt and I go back so far… oh, whatever. Cut the corny lyrics, In Debt and I just realized that we’re in debt. Okay, so we knew it before, but we finally got around to calculating the exact amount of our credit card debt. We have a total of ten** credit cards and $11,400 in credit card debt. And this was all created in the past six months. Yikes!
I am not too scared of this because I know exactly how it happened, and have an idea of how we can pay it off, but still… It’s more than $10k! In addition, I owe around $19k in student loans, and In Debt has about $10k left on his car.
**Around 80% are mine. Okay, eight of them are mine. I know. The funny thing is, I’ve had lots of cards and no debt in the past. I just have a card addiction. Along with eliminating debt, my goal for this year is to also reduce the number of credit cards. But I’ll leave that for another post… and another day.
Hi, I read your post and I can feel your pain–
It’s good that you can see that its a credit card addiction though, credit cards can be addictive, exactly like a drug.
Anyway, I saw your blog and I wanted to share this great resource that has really helped me (its 100% free and nonprofit– not a business at all)–
Its called “Debtors Anonymous”, and it provides free support groups for people with credit card or shopping addiction (and also other self-sabotaging money problems). Their support groups are all over the USA, in Canada and in Europe as well: http://www.debtorsanonymous.org
Best, Phil
