Never Find a *Debt* Like This

In Debt and I go back so far… oh, whatever. Cut the corny lyrics, In Debt and I just realized that we’re in debt. Okay, so we knew it before, but we finally got around to calculating the exact amount of our credit card debt. We have a total of ten** credit cards and $11,400 in credit card debt. And this was all created in the past six months. Yikes!

I am not too scared of this because I know exactly how it happened, and have an idea of how we can pay it off, but still… It’s more than $10k! In addition, I owe around $19k in student loans, and In Debt has about $10k left on his car.

**Around 80% are mine. Okay, eight of them are mine. I know. The funny thing is, I’ve had lots of cards and no debt in the past. I just have a card addiction. Along with eliminating debt, my goal for this year is to also reduce the number of credit cards. But I’ll leave that for another post… and another day. ;-)

Hi, I read your post and I can feel your pain–

It’s good that you can see that its a credit card addiction though, credit cards can be addictive, exactly like a drug.

Anyway, I saw your blog and I wanted to share this great resource that has really helped me (its 100% free and nonprofit– not a business at all)–

Its called “Debtors Anonymous”, and it provides free support groups for people with credit card or shopping addiction (and also other self-sabotaging money problems). Their support groups are all over the USA, in Canada and in Europe as well: http://www.debtorsanonymous.org

    Best, Phil
